Some forty years ago, a young man was approaching his high school graduation date. He didn’t know what he wanted to do with his life, except he knew he wanted to play baseball. He received a $200 scholarship to enroll in junior college to play baseball. He went on to play baseball for a four-year university, be named a college All-American, play professional baseball for five years, and coach collegiate women’s softball. The young man’s family believes that none of his success would have been possible without the generous scholarship he received. They established this scholarship to pay that gift forward to the next generation of high school baseball players from Lee’s Summit High School.
