The Edward L. and Helen L. Newlin scholarship was established in 2006 by Edward and Helen Newlin of Oak Grove, Missouri, to provide college education for worthy young men and women of Eastern Jackson County.
Eligibility:
- Must be a graduating senior from a public high school in one of the following school districts: Fort Osage, Grain Valley, Oak Grove or Raytown;
- Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree at any accredited four year college or university.
Amount:
Up to $1,500 per academic year.
Renewable:
Yes, this scholarship can be renewed for three additional years of funding. A renewal application must be submitted with proof of continuing college enrollment and a minimum college cumulative GPA of 3.0.
Deadline:
The General Application will be opened December 15 and will be due (including any additional requirements for scholarships you may be matched with) April 1.
Please note that the general application requires transcripts showing grades from Fall Semester 2023. Any applications submitted with transcripts omitting Fall Semester 2023 will not be considered.
Requirements:
- A typed essay of approximately 500 words elaborating on your personal qualities and goals for the future.
- A reference letter from at least one supervisor of an activity included in the resume you previously submitted. Up to two more references may be submitted, if you choose.
