This scholarship was established by the family of Christopher Michael Rose to serve as an enduring memorial of his life. Christopher spent his adult life in Aspen, Colorado, and had many friends who worked in the trades in their community. Christopher's family believes he would want to support people with demonstrated financial need pursuing trade certification programs with this scholarship in his name.
Eligibility:
- Must be a graduating high school senior from Kansas or Missouri;
- Must be pursuing an associate degree or technical certification in a vocational, technical, or trade field;
- Must have demonstrated financial need;
- Preference given to applicants who come from underserved populations (first-generation Americans, minorities, etc.)
Amount:
- Up to $10,000 per academic year with a lifetime total award limit of $20,000.
Renewable:
Yes, this scholarship can be renewed for additional years of funding if the student continues to meet the criteria for the scholarship. A renewal application must be submitted with proof of continuing enrollment. Each student is eligible for up to $20,000 total from this scholarship fund over the span of their enrollment.
Deadline:
Applications must be submitted by February 14.
Requirements:
- Three (3) brief letters of recommendation explaining how the applicant meets the criteria for the scholarship and would benefit from receiving it- Two from school staff or faculty and one from a community member, mentor, boss, etc.
- Brief essay on the student’s educational and career aspirations. Include details on coming from an underserved community if applicable (first-generation American, minority, etc.). This essay WILL NOT be evaluated on technical writing ability and is only intended for the purposes of learning about the applicants and their hopes and dreams.
