During the December 2024 holiday, our YAC students gifted hundreds of warm clothing articles to the Salvation Army's Crossroads Shelter in Independence.
During the end of the year festivities in December 2024, the Truman Heartland Community Foundation's Youth Advisory Council had their holiday party at the Bingham-Waggoner Mansion & Estate.
As part of the holiday season, the YAC students give back to their community in a way that will build life long patterns of generosity. The students did a winter wear drive, and collected hundreds of socks, underwear, gloves and hats. All donations were given to the Salvation Army's CROSSROADS SHELTER in Independence. When our YAC students come together throughout the year, they are learning so many things about how philanthropy works to improve the lives of real people.
The hospitality of the Mansion volunteers was wonderful. We had our Holiday Pizza Party in the Carriage House and then the students had the chance to learn about volunteer opportunities at the Mansion; and then toured the mansion in ALL its magnificent beauty decorated for the holidays.
Thank you to our Truman Heartland Board and Advisory Boards for your support and a big THANKS to the Bingham-Waggoner for helping history come to life for our school of philanthropy students.
