Do you know a high school student interested in community service and philanthropy? If so, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is the perfect place for them!

YAC is a group of dedicated high school students from throughout the area who are passionate about making a positive impact in our community.

Just take a look at what the 2023-24 YAC members accomplished:

  • Conducted 16 site visits to local nonprofit agencies to learn more about the programs and services for which they are applying for competitive grant funding.
  • Cooperatively selected and awarded grants from the YAC endowment fund to support the competitive grant applications from TNC Community, Cancer Action, and the Necessity Pantry at St. Michael’s.
  • Volunteered at various community events, food drives, and receptions for both THCF and other nonprofits like the Community Services League.
  • Wrote and decorated cards as a group to support their peers working through mental health challenges at Crittenton.
  • Recruited new members from 11 different area schools to join YAC.
  • Said goodbye to 22 active seniors graduating from high school and the YAC program.
  • And so much MORE!

As a YAC member, students learn that philanthropy isn't just a one-time event but a continuous commitment to improving the quality of life for others. Our actions, whether big or small, have an impact. And now, we are looking for new students to join us in our mission.

If you or someone you know is in high school and passionate about giving back to the community, developing leadership skills, and making a difference, we encourage them to join YAC. By becoming a YAC member, you'll have the opportunity to participate in various philanthropic activities, meet inspiring speakers, and interact with a lot of like-minded students from schools throughout the area in a collaborative, non-competitive way.
