Legacy giving is a way to leave a lasting legacy of generosity and make a cause you care about an important part of your life story. AT THCF, we have our Heartland Legacy Society. This is an exclusive group of individuals and families who have set aside funds to support the community foundation after their death. These people are not just supporters but also change leaders in the community and friends and volunteers of the foundation. We are grateful for their commitment to the mission of the foundation for the long term.

As an added benefit, our Legacy Society members are invited to attend our annual Grants Luncheon as our honored guests. This very special event brings all our annual competitive grant recipients together to celebrate their work and their grant awards. We also take the opportunity to highlight the Legacy Society members in the room. It truly is a moving celebration of giving. (pic link)

If you are wondering how to be part of our Legacy Society, it is really pretty simple. First, include your fund at Truman Heartland Community Foundation in your will, as a beneficiary designation, or in another planned giving vehicle. Second, let us know of your intent by completing a Future Gift Statement of Intent form, which will tell us how you will make your legacy gift and how you want to be recognized.

And that's it. You're in!

If you have a soft spot for your community foundation and would like to ensure it continues to support private giving for public good well into the future, join our Legacy Society. We would be proud to add your name as a New Member** to our list here.

Even though it’s an easy process, you may still have some lingering questions. Cole Eason, THCF Vice President of Advancement, would be happy to answer your questions and get you started.

As we completed our estate planning, we set aside a portion of our estate for the Foundation. Our children and grandchildren will continue to make grants to the causes we've supported over our lives. They will also have the discretion to direct grants to other qualified charities. Through the Sustainability fund, our giving will help the Foundation be stable and secure for future generations.
