For two decades, Truman Heartland Community Foundation has proudly supported the professional advisor community with meaningful, high-quality educational opportunities. As we celebrate 20 years of hosting our Professional Advisor Seminars, we invite you to join us this spring for a timely and informative session focused on the evolving challenges of estate planning.

Our Spring 2025 Professional Advisor Seminar will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Midwest Public Risk in Independence, Missouri. This event is free to attend and open to attorneys, accountants, financial planners, and other professionals interested in deepening their expertise in estate and charitable planning.

This year’s session is titled:
“My Estate Planning Era | KISS in 2025: Can We Keep it Simple (why do I feel so) Stupid?”

We’re pleased to welcome Melinda (Mindy) Ward, JD, Partner at Spencer Fane LLP, as this year’s presenter. Mindy will lead a comprehensive discussion on today’s estate planning landscape, including how changing client expectations, complex assets, and modern family structures continue to challenge traditional planning approaches.

Seminar Topics Will Include:

  • A thorough overview of the probate process and how to identify and plan around potential issues
  • A review of the revocable trust (post-death) administration process
  • A look at charitable giving strategies for income and estate tax planning, including uses for donor advised funds
  • An open Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage directly with the presenter

While continuing education credit is currently pending approval, the session is structured to provide valuable, practical insights advisors can apply in their day-to-day work with clients.
