Year-End is Coming

November has crept through the door, and we didn’t even notice. With the holiday season just weeks away, your Community Foundation is gearing up for a busy fourth quarter. We typically see the highest number of fund contributions during the last two months of the year.

November has crept through the door, and we didn’t even notice. With the holiday season just weeks away, your Community Foundation is gearing up for a busy fourth quarter. We typically see the highest number of fund contributions during the last two months of the year. As this year comes to a close, there are a few important dates to keep in mind as you plan your year-end charitable giving and grantmaking:

  • Gifts of appreciated stock or securities should be initiated by December 23, 2022. It is best to notify your Professional Advisor of the transfer as soon as possible, as it may take them a few days to process your request.
  • Checks sent via the U.S. Postal Service or carriers such as FedEx, UPS and DHL must be postmarked on or before December 31, 2022.
  • Your charities of choice must receive qualified Charitable Distributions from your IRA by December 31, 2022, so it is best to start the process early.
  • Wire transfers of cash must be initiated no later than December 27, 2022.
  • Credit card gifts made by phone or online may be made until December 31, 2022.
  • Grant recommendations should be made in the Donor Portal by noon on December 12, 2022, so the office has enough time to process your request and get checks mailed before the end of the year.

Truman Heartland is well equipped to accept a variety of assets, including cash, stocks, real estate, or other appreciated assets.
