Library Giving Day

Library Giving Day is a global day of giving on April 6 when those of us who believe in libraries and literacy come together to support our local library systems.

Library Giving Day is a global day of giving on April 6 when those of us who believe in libraries and literacy come together to support our local library systems. This year, Mid-Continent Public Library is raising funds for the Summer Reading Endowment to ensure every child in our community has access to reading, educational activities, and free programs every summer.

Daily reading over the summer has improved reading skills, increased the desire to read, prevented summer learning loss, and promoted school readiness. That's why Mid-Continent Public Library has offered a Summer Library Program to keep kids reading and learning in the summer months for more than 50 years. Last year alone, MCPL distributed more than 22,000 books to children who completed the program, and summer readers logged over 11.2 million minutes of reading.

Learn more about how you can get involved with MCPL's summer reading program.
