Since we are on the topic of endowments (see Give Smart – Why Endow?) , did you know the Foundation also has an endowed fund? The Sustainability Fund for Truman Heartland Community Foundation is our permanent endowment, providing operational support to build a better community far into the future. A fully-funded Sustainability Fund will provide Truman Heartland with an estimated $300,000 in annual support for Foundation operations. The fund would offset the operational expenses currently covered by our Undesignated Endowment Fund and the Toast to Our Towns Gala revenue. The income generated from the fund will allow the Foundation to adapt to the ever-changing needs of our community while staying committed to providing exemplary service to our fundholders and constituents. We have recently kicked off our Sustainability Fund campaign, chaired by Chuck Foudree and Jim Stilley. Our long-term goal is a $6 million fund, and we hope to have pledges of $1 million by year-end. It is vital to have a Sustainability Fund to ensure the Foundation remains in a position to provide quality services to our fundholders, facilitate our competitive grants and scholarship programs, take the lead on crucial community initiatives, and so much more.
