Nonprofit organizations in the region are encouraged to apply for funding through Truman Heartland’s Competitive Community Grants program and the Jelley Family Foundation Endowment for Children’s Education. We partner with thriving nonprofits that are passionate about improving our Eastern Jackson County and Cass County communities. Our donors see these grants as an investment in our communities, and they are looking for significant returns!
Organizations interested in our Community Grants program must address community needs in one or more of the following areas of concentration: Arts, Culture, and Historic Preservation; Adult or Non-Traditional Education (not children's education); Community Betterment (improving neighborhoods, youth development, and leadership, programs for seniors, transportation, violence prevention, racial equity, etc.); Health and Human Services; and Wildlife Conservation in Missouri.
Applications for Jelley Family Foundation Endowment for Children's Education must be focused on educational initiatives for children, ranging from early childhood through traditional post-secondary education. Organizations that take an innovative approach to education, focus on at-risk youth, or collaborate with other organizations are strongly encouraged to apply.
And because Covid continues to impact our communities and put financial and operational strains on many of our nonprofit partners, THCF will continue to accept applications for general operating support as well as specific program funding.
The deadline to apply for a grant from the Jelley Family Foundation is Monday, March 14. The deadline to apply for a Community Grant comes a few weeks later, on Monday, March 28. Nearly $500,000 is available this year through the programs, although we are always looking for ways to leverage additional funding and resources to make a greater impact. If you would like more information on how to apply for a grant or are curious about how you can donate to an existing competitive grant fund, get in touch with Diana Castillo, Director of Grantmaking and Donor Service.
